In Michigan, students must be at least 14 years and 8 months old to enroll in Segment 1 of driver’s education.

Segment 1 includes classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training. Segment 2 is a follow-up course that includes additional classroom instruction after students have held a Level 1 License for at least 3 months.

Segment 1 consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training, and 4 hours of observation.

You can attend any of our classes. Choose the location and dates that are most convenient for you.

Segment 1 typically takes 3 to 4 weeks to complete, depending on the schedule.
Along with the 24 hrs of classroom instruction, you will also schedule 6 drives and 4 observations in the car with an instructor. This schedule will be arranged between you and your instructor.
The more available you are, the earlier you will be done!

The state of Michigan requires that you attend 24 hours of class.
If you have to miss a class, makeup options will be offered so that you can complete all the required hours.
We will make sure you meet the requirements.

Bring your BIRTH CERTIFICATE to the first day of class.
Also, a notebook and a pencil will be handy!
Your instructor will provide additional materials.

Students must have completed Segment 1, held a Level 1 License for at least 3 months, and logged a minimum of 30 hours of supervised driving, including 2 hours at night.

Segment 2 includes 6 hours of classroom instruction over a minimum of 3 days.

Behind-the-wheel sessions are scheduled based on the availability of the student and instructor. You can choose times that fit your schedule.

Shoes are a good idea, instead of sandals. Everything else is provided! We have cars with instructor brakes and we are ready to teach you.

A parent/guardian should plan to attend the parent meeting on the first night of class. For subsequent classes, parents/guardians are not required to attend, but are welcome to sit in on the classroom sessions if they wish.

If you decide to withdraw from the course before its completion, your refund will be based on the following prorated schedule:
More than one week before the class begins, full tuition minus $50.00.
Less than one week before the class begins, full tuition minus $100.00
During the first week of classes, 50% of the tuition will be refunded.
After the first week of classes, no tuition will be refunded.

No, Genesis does not offer Road Tests, but you can take your test at any certified Michigan Road Test site.
